Military Time Converter
Convert 24 hour time to 12 hour AM/PM and back, with minutes math.
What it does
Twenty four hour time counts the day straight from 00:00 to 23:59, which removes every AM and PM mixup from schedules, logs, and travel. Twelve hour clocks restart twice and lean on the label to say which half is meant.
The tool above converts both directions. Feed it a 24 hour time for the AM/PM reading, or a 12 hour time with its label for the 24 hour form, plus minutes after midnight for math.
Twelve is the trip point in both directions. Midnight twelve becomes zero going up, and zero becomes twelve coming back, while noon twelve stays twelve either way. Nearly every conversion error lives at those two hours.
Aviation, hospitals, and the military run 24 hour time precisely because handover mistakes cost lives. Spoken forms say fourteen thirty for 14:30 and oh six hundred for 06:00.
How to use
- Pick the direction first.
- Enter the time in the source clock.
- Add AM or PM when converting upward.
- Use minutes after midnight for duration math.
Formula
- mod 12
- Remainder folding 13-23 onto 1-11.
- 12 AM / 12 PM
- Midnight and noon exceptions to the add twelve rule.
- minutes
- Carry over unchanged in both directions.
Leading zeros are display only: 06:00 and 6:00 AM name the same minute. Seconds append after a second colon when needed.
